Karnataka Evaluation Authority undertakes different types of outreach activities such as organizing one day sensitization workshops to officer at the State Secretariat and Head Offices, sharing the evaluation findings in the review meetings of with policy makers, organizing dissemination workshops on important evaluation studies, collaborating with national and international agencies on evaluations, delivering public lectures and so on. 

As a part of this, five one day sensitization workshops were held in April, 2013 at Bangalore. About 250 officers of nearly 50 departments participated in these workshops. Two major evaluation study findings were shared with Senior Civil Servants of the State Government. Lectures on evaluation were delivered at Administrative Training Institute at Mysore, Fiscal Policy Institute, Bangalore and a few other places. In-service offices and even probationers of State Civil Services and Central Civil Services were exposed to KEA lectures.  

During 2017-18:

KEA has organized one workshop on 14th September 2017 for discussion about Action Taken on recommendations of the evaluation studies by the concerned Departments. 90 officers from 26 Departments attended the workshop.

A workshop on capacity building of the Evaluation Consultant Organizations on different aspects of evaluation studies was conducted on 17th Nov 2017.  65 representatives from Evaluation Consultant organizations, Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics Department and KEA participated in the workshop.

Karnataka Evaluation Authority (KEA) is involved at three different stages in the evaluations commissioned by the Line Departments, PSUs and other Agencies as under:

  • Framing and approving the Terms of Reference for the study.
  • Examining the Evaluation Work Plan of the Consultant and approving the same, and
  • Reviewing the Draft Evaluation Report and according Technical Approval.

Besides providing technical support to the evaluations commissioned by different Line Departments, PSUs and other State Government Agencies, Karnataka Evaluation Authority (KEA) undertakes evaluation of certain important studies with its own resources but in close collaboration with the Department/Agency concerned. 

About KEA

KEA is headed by a Senior State Government Officer in the Ranks of Secretary. Administrative oversight to KEA is provided by three Committees.
